“Photography has been a passion for me!” It has introduced me to different cultures and religions. Through my travels, I have met people and heard their life stories. Some have laughed, some have cried, it has taught me compassion for others. Through the camera lens and my eyes, I have photographed people during their important moments. My education started in San Francisco with a Fine Arts Degree in Black & White Photography & Photojournalism. I shadowed a Master Photographer, worked as her wedding assistant and as a Black & White Printer. I later worked at the Contra Costa Times as a graphic arts specialist and freelance photographer. Agfa-Gevaert, a German Photographic Company, offered me a job in the SF Bay Area, teaching classes using their film and papers. I began shooting events as a freelance wedding photographer for a studio located in Oakland . Later I worked full time as a photojournalist for the Rossmoor News in Walnut Creek . Here I learned proof reading, editing, interviewing skills, while photographing for Fashion, Travel and Dining Special Sections. I began my own professional photography business and currently work full time shooting events, weddings, commercial and magazine profiles. In addition to photography, I believe in giving back to the community. I volunteer for the American Red Cross and have worked many years on their Disaster Assistance Team in Solano County and the SF Bay Area. I also volunteer at St. Dominic's School in Benicia , with children on field trips, art projects and classroom activities. My other passions include the outdoors, travel, and waterfront activities.

Richard has a career in visual arts that beings in publishing and includes diverse disciplines in graphic design, marketing and photography. From his beginnings in National Public Radio in Colorado , where he produced a monthly magazine, he took his talents to Manhattan , where he joined the energetic staff of W Magazine and Women's Wear Daily . Shifting gears and following his dreams westward, Richard gravitated to the computer revolution in Berkeley , working with
Osborne/McGraw-Hill producing books on the early technology. As staff photographer he was the first person outside of Apple to photograph the Mac computer, doing so on Steve Job's desk.
His photography led to a freelance pursuit in photos of auto parts, liquor, and other products and he eventually turned to photographing people exclusively. Taking photos of bands and photographing wedding parties went hand-in-hand as he developed his corporate portraiture at the same time.
Today, he shoots around forty weddings a year and continues his work in the entertainment and corporate fields.
